PEOPLE'S views are being sought as part of a consultation on plans to build a new sports pavilion in Cranwell.

A joint Cranwell, Byard's Leap and Brauncewell parish consultation questionnaire has been distributed to households, businesses and existing groups to ascertain public opinion and support for the project.

The £200,000 project involves either re-invigorating three old cabins or creating a new pavilion with suitable facilities.

Project manager Ashley Newman described the changing rooms as 'no longer fit for purpose' and said: "The lack of toilets and showers within the cabins now renders those elements un-usable for anything other than storage.

"As a consequence, the resident football team has moved their fixtures to another local site. Revenue from the football club side of the facility has now ceased."

Views and opinions gained through the questionnaire will shape the future of the project and will be used to formulate future building plans.

These views will also help the committee apply for any grant support applications.

Mr Newman added: "If you live in the joint parish and have received a questionnaire on the project, please return it with your views."

The consultation process will run until December 31. A report will then be published via the project website and a parish meeting will be organised to feedback the gathered information.

The committee is also looking for more volunteers to help out. Anyone wishing to do so can go along to the next meetings on Tuesday, September 25 and Tuesday, November 27 at 7pm at Cranwell Village Hall.

Money for the new facilities been raised by volunteers with £1,171.23 raised in the last six months.

Future events include a sponsored Marathon Run on Sunday, October 14 from Lincoln to Sleaford and a Hog Roast on Saturday, November 10, at Cranwell Village Hall.

The Hog Roast event will feature an auction and a raffle and starts at 7pm. Tickets for the event cost £5.
