A FORMER RAF Engineer who trained at Cranwell has swapped the front line for contacting the after-life after experiencing a "message" from his departed grandfather while serving in Iraq.

Andrew Dee, 47, who now tours as a spirit medium and returns to Sleaford this weekend, was on a break from work one morning in Iraq in 2006 when he spotted a clog-shaped, silver key-ring lying in the sand.

In a extract from a book he is writing about his experiences Mr Dee said: "To anybody else this was fairly unremarkable but to me this was most definitely a message. At that moment, everything in my mind began to swirl and I suddenly felt a rush, almost like I was not in control of my own thoughts. Or, more like somebody had taken control of my thoughts.

"It also felt like I was looking at the clog through somebody else's eyes and I knew whose eyes they were. For a split second my grandfather was with me and had completely enveloped me with his presence."

Mr Dee explained that his grandfather, who died when he was 10, was Dutch and, as well as that, his father had a restaurant in Liverpool named 'Clogs'.

After leaving the RAF in 2008 Mr Dee began visiting local spiritualist churches and after a number of years in training he has now demonstrated his skills in spiritualist churches all over the northwest of England, and the Midlands working with other mediums and raising money for various local and national charities through Mothercare/Marie Curie and Tesco.

Mr Dee said that he applied his years of military discipline to his current work to help him deliver his messages with accuracy and compassion.

He said: "The communication between our world and the next is a bit like tuning a radio into the airwaves and looking for a signal. There is a lot of 'white noise' in the airwaves and it is a case of working in a disciplined way to ensure the accuracy of the message I receive.

"A lot of people want to receive a message and will make the information 'fit'. When this happens, I often ask spirits to give me information that only one person can understand so that the recipient is left in no doubt who has come to communicate with them."

Mr Dee will be on stage at The Sleaford Playhouse, 54 Westgate, this Saturday at 8pm for a demonstration of clairvoyance.

Tickets are £12 or £10 and are available by calling 01529 410348 or on the door.
