Lincs FM's You've Got Talent winners The Vamps to perform at Lincolnshire Show

A GROUP of friends from St George's Academy in Sleaford have put their musical talents to the test by forming a band.

Keyboard player Tom McCormick, 17, drummer Blake Lawrence, 16, vocalist Eve Porter, 17, bass guitarist Oliver Storey, 15, and guitarist Chris Thorpe, 18, make up the band – The Vamps.

The band was originally formed at St George's Academy for school productions and performs all the music for the annual school production and other events that the academy requires.

Band spokesman Claire Storey said: "They are a group of talented musicians that were handpicked by the head of music to form a band to play the music for the musical productions that the academy.

"They recently entered the Lincs FM You've Got Talent competition and are one of the winning acts. Their prize is to perform at the Lincolnshire Show today (June 20)."

The Vamps, who perform popular music from the 60s up to the present day, will also be performing at Swaton Show on Sunday, June 24.

Swaton Vintage Day's annual show raises thousands of pounds for charity each year. It also runs alongside the World Egg Championships which attracts egg-throwers from all over the world.

The day features more than 400 vintage and classic cars, tractors, motorbikes, commercial vehicles, stationary engines and speciality machines.

There will also be a parade of vehicles, craft tent, trade stands and exhibitions, children's games and rides, a medieval jousting skills display and chain-saw sculpture.
