A COACH company from Sleaford proved they were driving their way to success last week as they attended a national awards ceremony in which they received two nominations.

Staff from Sleafordian Coaches glammed up and headed to the glitzy 'Route One' awards held at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham where they were nominated for the 'Operator Training Award' and the 'Small Coach Operator of the Year'.

Jemma Borrill, office manager said: "We're so proud to have been nominated against big names such as Stagecoach and Kings Ferry.

"Our company is growing bigger and better every year."

The team, who were also nominated in 2010, missed out on scooping an award last week but are determined to win before they reach the company's 50th birthday in 2014.

With a dedicated team of drivers and office staff Sleafordian Coaches provide travel requirements for schools, local businesses and even offers driver training for other companies.

Jemma said: "For our company which started as a small, family-run taxi firm 50 years ago with just four vehicles we have come such a long way.

"We now have approximately 30 members of staff, 30 vehicles and people come from all over the country to use our facilities."

In May this year Sleafordian Coaches also became the first Lincolnshire coach operator to successfully satisfy all the criteria required to become members of the BUSK (Belt Up School Kids) 'Simply Safe Campaign'.

BUSK is a national transport safety consultancy group and the 'Simply Safe' scheme is a tool that schools can use to gain an understanding about school trip transport safety.

The company are also proud to be able to say they have three generations of one family working there – one of the founding members Don Broughton; his son Mark who along with wife Lisa run the company today; and their daughter Hannah who has recently joined the team.
